OUR MISSION + VISION

Founded in 2002, the non-profit Vermont Green Building Network (VGBN) works to advance the environmental, economic, community, and health benefits of green design, construction, and building operation practices. Our vision is to work towards ensuring all Vermonters have green healthy spaces to live, work and play.

OUR GOALS

  • Educate on the meaning, benefits, and practices of green building

  • Increase market demand for green buildings

  • Connect green building professionals, suppliers, and customers

The Vermont Green Building Network (VGBN) has a longstanding commitment to addressing and integrating the important issues of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice (DEI and justice) into our work and the built environment. Establishing a diverse and inclusive culture is a priority, and VGBN invites our members, partners, and greater green building community along with us on this journey of addressing and integrating these essential issues into our work and goals. HISTORY

The founding members of VGBN believed in the power of a networking organization to promote green building practices in Vermont. VGBN was formed in 2002 with seed funding provided by the Vermont Department of Public Service to bring people together interested in transforming the way we build - to share ideas, learn strategies, and connect with partners. The organization became a registered 501(c)(3) in January of 2004. In April 2005, VGBN became the Vermont Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), connecting to a network of over 70 other USGBC Chapters across the country. VGBN remained the official Vermont Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council until December 2015.
